Now here’s something you don’t see everyday….

Late yesterday afternoon I received flowers from Mommy Bacchus. Yes, a husband received flowers from his wife, not the other away around. What’s more surprising is that they were not “dog house” flowers but “just because” flowers. The card read the following:

You are a wonderful husband and great father, your wife–Mommy Bacchus

So let me publicly state to the internet world, “Thank You Mommy Bacchus.” See this is the result of loving and appreciating my wife to the fullest extent. Nothing more, nothing less.

OK, now that that is over with, let me tell you what’s really going on here. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled on a post (The Tip) that Izzy at Moonshine did concerning husbands and how they should do more housework around the house to get their wives, how do we say, “in the mood.” Basically many of the comments agreed that men need to do more and say more and you know, be more attentive to their wives. I had to open my big mouth and add that it goes both ways. I promised to do my part on the comments and started doing little things to make my wife know she was still the #1 love of my life.

Guess what, it worked. Out of the blue I received flowers. Mommy Bacchus has only sent me flowers two times prior in our 17 years of marriage. One was on our anniversary and the other we could call true “dog house” flowers (Yes, she messed up big time).

Mommy Bacchus is a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan and usually watches the show live and I watch the recorded version some time later. Last night I saw the episode that showed a loving black couple who learned to appreciate each other after the wife found out about a chronic medical illness (those that watched the episode know what I mean, I’m not going to begin to try and spell it). Also, McDreamy appeared to admit that he was absent during his marriage and partially the cause of his wife’s affair (I’m sorry I don’t follow this logic, but men have used this excuse for years). Since Mommy Bacchus is also a Natalie Cole fan, (can you believe how good she looked, she has really cleaned up her act, but the wig was a little puzzling) I knew she must have taken these messages to heart.

So men, treat your women like the queens they are and I thank Izzy and all the “Crazy/Hip Blogging Mamas” for their comments and suggestions on how to make a woman feel special.

On a sidenote: Men, if you ever receive flowers from a woman, make sure you thank her immediately. Don’t wait until you get home, or see her later in the day. Evidently I took too long to acknowledge receipt of the bouquet and this left Mommy Bacchus a little perturbed. So it looks like next week I will be sending “dog house” flowers.

I’m out……

How sweet! I sent my hubby flowers once for Valentines Day and he didn’t seem as excited about them as I thought he would be. Think a basket of Whoppers would be better?
