My Easter Traditions: Haircuts, Suits and Flowers

One of my fondest memories of my father include our trips to the department store to buy my annual Easter suits.  It was our special time for me to learn, and him to teach me about life. At the time, I didn't appreciate those shopping sprees, but I cherish them now.  Dad taught me about dressing well and being proud of your appearance.  He was a big man and not in the best shape, but he always dressed to the nines and passed this passion to me.  I often wonder what he would think of today's youth and the slacker mentality.  There were many times I saw him shake his head in disbelief after seeing someone with an un-tucked dress shirt. Some of the special things I learned are listed below:

  • Invest in at least one Navy Blue suit from a tailor
  • A man should never be too busy to shine his own shoes
  • Never buy shiny ties from a street vendor (self-explanatory)
  • Never wear short-sleeve shirts to work (He never lived in TX)
  • A new suit requires a haircut

So my weekend will include Bacchus Jr.'s first trip with me to buy him a Easter suit ,a visit to the barbershop and Fresh Tulips for Mommy Bacchus.  Happy Easter everyone and see you next week.

Update on Bill Gates Rules

Thanks to Tim for correcting this list that was wrongly attributed to Bill Gates. Tim states below:

"These rules are not by Bill Gates. They were actually written Charles J. Sykes, author of the book, “Dumbing Down Our Kids”. This is another urban legend. See http://www.snopes.com/language/document/liferule.htm. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_bill_gates_speech.htm "

Bacchus Jr. Behavior Update: April 11, 2006

It’s been two weeks after BJ’s surgery and I am happy to announce we have a new "Good" behavior record at school. BJ has received 10 straight green faces since March 24th. Mommy Bacchus and I are so proud of him. I only have to tell him to do things 3 or 4 times, when prior to the surgery, I had to tell him 5 or 6 times.  Although I feel that he suffers from selective hearing, this is an improvement…..Bye

Check Out My New Site Design

Stephanie at Mystical Insense is creating a new layout for Parenting Toys, so please excuse the mess of the sidebar, until we are done.  I am so very pleased with this first draft and wanted to see if anyone has any other comments or suggestions.

Did I mention that the Mavericks will win the NBA Championship?

Now I am. Avery Johnson has this team prepared to go all the way.  I took Bacchus Jr. to the game tonight against the Hornets and was extrememly impressed.  Daniels is playing better defense, Josh Howard is back to old form and Dirk now knows how to pass out of the double teams.  Look out East Coast……..
