Happy Mother’s Day

mothers_day.jpgIt's been a wonderful week for me and I'm in a great mood.  I got some work done on the design of the site, downloaded some new software to help with my pictures, and BJ didn't hurt any of his friends at school. Yes, Life is good.  I was looking at a list of my comments Parenting Toys has received and noticed that most of my loyal commenters are mothers or mother-like figures in their families.  So as a thanks for their support I want to honor each and every one of them for putting up with all of us hard-headed men.  You love us, feed us, take care of us and put us in our places.  You are the true jewels of God's great earth.  So to express my gratitude, I want to thank the following supporters. Since Miss Lady Ma'am was the top commenter, she received 250 BE credits for her support.   Happy Mother's Day to you all.

Click & Comment Day

On Mondays, Cat has Click & Comment Day. She posted this to remind you how important it is to comment on other blogs. It truly DOES increase your readership and you most often gain regulars that will visit your blog day after day.

What I encourage is for you to click my renter. Then, you comment on the blog and click their renter or someone on their blogroll. Then you comment on that blog and click their renter or someone on their blogroll. Do this for as many blogs as you can. Sometimes they go full circle, and you end up at the originating blog, then just look up a blog in the blogroll and start the cycle again.

So, let's get started! Comment here and I'll either add your name and link to my post or use an auto-link program and let you add your own.

I really encourage you to do this at least to 5 comments if you have ANY time at all. It will give you the joy of sharing a few of your opinions on posts and bring you future readers.

Thanks and enjoy Click & Comment Day!

Are you posting Click & Comment on your blog? Add your name to the list with a link to your blog and I'll come visit. If you do this you not only gain links but new blog-friends as well.

Enjoy! I'm going to try to do this each Monday, but starting today. Why not start now?

The Lovely State of Alabama

I've been to Alabama twice in my life, once while in high school and competing in a Drum Corps competition (Yeah, I was a "Band Geek," wanna make something of it), and last year while on business for my company.  The high school trip was to Birmingham and the business trip was to a small town outside of Tuscaloosa.  Unfortunately, the most recent trip was like I was stepping back in time 30 years.  We all hold stereotypical views of Alabama, but the problem with stereotypes is that the generalization limits our impressions of people.  Well let me tell you, my business trip reinforced a number of stereotypes I had completely forgotten about for years. Don't get me wrong, the people were warm and gracious at all times, but the stares my white, female co-worker and I received while out were beyond creepy.

I was reminded of my Alabama trips while reading this week's renter's, Mr. Fabulous, posts describing his recent business trip to the lovely state.  His rental car has Pennsylvania plates , so this could get interesting.  Please visit his site by clicking the link on the sidebar and ask him to share more of his stories.  It's a shame I wasn't writing this blog last year during my visit, because I had at least a dozen stories to tell Mommy Bacchus each evening on the phone.  So Mr. Fab, please entertain us.

Mission: Impossible III

I have been seeing ads for MI 3 for a couple of weeks now, and every time one comes on I stop what I am doing and watch to see if they show a new scene.  Don't you just love the promos for this movie?  Although I have been a fan of Tom Cruise's acting since "Risky Business," I have not been a fan of him as a person for a while.  I hope that this is not one of the movies where the only good scenes are in the ads.  I have also been a fan of Ving Rhames since "Pulp Fiction" and wish I would see him in more stuff.  The characters that Ving plays remind me a lot of myself.  Cool, deliberate and precise……Yup, that's me, at least in my dreams. I loved MI 1 and not that happy with MI 2, so hopefully MI 3 will be worth paying to go see it in the theatres.  Since BJ was born, I have been on the "DVD Movies Schedule" of keeping up with movies.  Only something really special will get me to watch something real time.  So if anyone has a chance to see it, please give me your thoughts so I can make a decision to plunk down my hard-earned cash.

The Ironic Nature of My Body Hair

As a teenager I couldn't wait to grow enough hair to display a mustache.  Now as a man knocking on the door of the big "40," I hate the thought of the daily shave.  Although I have found that BJ is entertained with my face full of shaving cream, my bathroom sink resembles a department store perfume counter.  I am proud to admit that I was a metrosexual before there was a name for it, but my regimen includes face wash/buff, pre-shave oil, shaving cream, after-shave moisturizer, oil-control lotion and finally eye-cream ( I'm getting tired just writing this sequence). My ritual is all done in an effort to be less "scratchy" to Mommy Bacchus. So the first ironic nature is that we can't wait to grow hair, just to shave it off each morning with a two-bladed razor.

Mrs. Davis, this week's renter, reviews an innovative children's CD that playfully discusses Daddy Scratchiness.  I found her review eye-opening an informative in describing the musical trends in recent children's music. It's making me re-think my weekend purchase of the "Little Einstein's CD I bought for BJ, but I hope to instill a mature, diverse appreciation of music (Mommy Bacchus has banned hip-hop in the car). Stop by her site a read her review..  She also includes links for samples so you can listen for yourself.

The second ironic nature of my body hair is that I am losing it from the top of my head and finding it on parts of my body that never see the light of day. This morning I got out the shower and found some stands on the back of my shoulder.  I have hair on my arms, chest, legs, nose, ears and the pubic area, but I think shoulder hair puts me into a whole new category.  So the moral of this story is,  "Be nice to zoo animals," it may be a former daddy blogger you throw bananas to.
