Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road????

Obviously to get to the other side.

This morning BJ told me his first joke.  It was too cute to me, because it looks like he's picking up his dad's sense of humour.  Now if we can just work on his delivery…..

My Prediction: Mavs in 6

The Miami Heat are too old, too slow, and inflexible. Mavs will take it to them in both games here and then break their hearts taking game three. Heat will wake up after we relax and take the next two. We then come back home and win the big one in Dallas…..May not work exactly like this but that's my prediction.Finals_2006.jpg

My Latest Pet Peeve: Shop-Talking

I know I'm not alone in this view, but cell phone use and lack of attention is getting irritating to me during grocery shopping.   The other day I was walking behind a lady and I could tell she was more interested in her phone conversation then getting out of the way of anyone behind her.  She was animated in her conversation and was one of those people who uses their hands when they talk.  So imagine that she is using the left hand to hold the cell phone and the right hand is wailing away and not holding on to her shopping cart.  Every few seconds the shopping cart would coast on its own for a few feet until she gained control.

Here's the problem:

Not only was she walking slowly without a care or regard to anyone else in the store, she stopped all of a sudden out of no where.  Yes, just stopped right in the middle of the aisle.  The shopping cart continues to roll to the left and she takes a step to the right.  So I hit my feet brakes since I can't get around either of them to pass.  I try to edge by her and start to nudge her cart out of the way. She has the nerve to look at me like I was trying to steal her purse. I say, "I'm trying to get by." She says, "Oh, I'm sorry, is that in your way?" Yes lady, it is, and so are you.

I got to my product, continued down the aisle and turned back around because another customer was having the same problem getting around "Ms. Talk-So-Much." This experience makes me sensitive to the problem and I notice that every aisle I pass has at least one shop-talker gabbing away like no ones listening.  Now don't get me wrong, I think cell phones are one of life's greatest inventions, but do we really need to shop and talk as much as we do?  This wouldn't be such an irritant to me except that people are walking around with carts and not paying attention to others.  Imagine a shop-talker running into a toddler who was innocently walking next to their mom.  A toddler is the right height for a head injury, and would you want that on your conscience?

So please, if your going to shop-talk, at least try to pay attention to others and no one really cares about the new drapes you bought, or your date last night, or the problems your having with your mother-in-law…I'm sure the conversation can wait until you get into your 2-ton moving vehicle so you can play bumper cars with the on-going traffic.

My Recipe for a Mavericks Game 6 Win!!!

Not that anyone really cares, but here's my recipe for a game 6 win and springboard to the finals.

1. Start out focusing on the defensive intensity and don't get caught up in running.  In the first quarter of game 5 we had the Suns flustered and built a big lead.  When we started shooting 3's and quick scores, we played right into the strengths of the Suns. It's hard to keep from doing layups on a fastbreak, but the longer we keep the ball out of their hands, the bigger our lead will grow.

2. Take it to the hole, Take it to the hole, Take it to the hole OFTEN.  We gotta get Marion and "Loverboy" Thomas in foul trouble in the first half.  When Marion had to sit last night in the fourth quarter, that helped Dirk go nuts. The more fouls the Suns get, the more timid they play. 3. Last and not least. Hope that Thomas blows Dirk another kiss, and then Dirk will put up a hundred on 'em……
Feel free to add your own recipe……

Breaking in a New Car…..

It's been almost a week in the new car and life is good.  I haven't had a car payment in years, and I can't stop thinking about my first one coming up in a few weeks.  I guess I'll feel better about the car once that has come and gone.  So I came to the realization that you don't really break in a new car until you make the first payment. That's when the honeymoon is over and it really becomes yours, well at least until you pay it off.

Now that things are getting back to normal, I will be posting, reading and getting back into the blogging community.
