Ywater: Ynot
Coochicoos has this item highlighted on their site and I can’t wait to get my hands on some. Y Water is a new vitamin-infused organic drink targeted at kids with a unique bottle designed by designer Yves Behar. The bottle also has a second life as a toy using connectors that come with each bottle to join with other bottles. I plan to buy some for my 6 year old and then let my one year old play with the bottles. What a fantastic idea. Available at Whole foods in March.

BJ Got a DS for X-Mas, Now what????
I struggled with this decision for weeks before deciding to make the purchase. BJ (Bacchus Junior) had a Gameboy for two years and at times he struggled with some of the games because he couldn't read many of the directions (BJ is 6) that would pop up during the game. It didn't make sense to spend that kind of money for something he may not be able to play with, but while visiting a friends house during the Thanksgiving holiday I changed my mind.
We stopped by a friends house who had invited us over the Thanksgiving desert (Everything was fantastic, I probably gained 5 pounds that evening). BJ started playing with an older boy who is 12 and his PSP portable device. Although the older boy did a lot of explaining to BJ he was really having a blast and enjoyed it. So the decision was made and the hunt began. I searched many of the ads and talked to co-workers, and finally decided to visit Gamestop and see what packages they had. I Was delighted to know that they had an exchange program if you bring in a used Gameboy you could get a new DS for only $99, plus 20% off two used games. This sold me on the purchase but I couldn't find any used games I thought he would like. An added plus to the purchase was that he can use any of his Gameboy cartridges in the new DS device. I purchased the Nintendo accessory pack and got new Mario and Pokemon cartridges to complete the purchase.
Just before Christmas he mentioned several times that he hoped he would get a DS, and I was silently happy that I made the decision. Christmas came and he was pleasantly surprised. He has thoroughly enjoyed his new games and happy to use some of his old gameboy cartridges as well. The only tricky part to this whole transaction was telling him that the Gameboy had to go to the shop for repair, and Santa couldn't fix it so he replaced it with a DS device. So now what???

Curse the toy manufacturers

If you have been reading my blog you know that I give updates on my son’s behavior in daycare. Today I am happy to announce that Bacchus Jr. (BJ) received (green faces) all week. This is the first time in a long time that he has achieved this goal for 5 weekdays in a row. He has split this achievement over a two week time period, but this is the first time he has done it from Monday to Friday straight. Yeah BJ!!!!

Last minute Gift Idea: Play-Doh
In doing my shopping for Bacchus Jr. (BJ) this year I purposely sought out Play-Doh. Since BJ was 2, he has always enjoyed playing with some form of Play-Doh. After receiving a molding kit for x-mas last year, we just added to it whenever the colors got hard or too mixed up to resemble any recognizable color. I was interested in seeing what other Play-Doh products were available so I visited the official Hasbro site and learned that Play- Doh was originally designed as a compound to assist with wallpaper cleaning. Bet you didn’t know that….Don’t ask me how, I just thought it was interesting.
The website has some useful items that include tips for parents, teachers and a fresh idea page–more than enough to keep your young one entertained all year long.
Wal-Mart has the Play Doh Creativity Table for $28.95.

Toys R Us has the Play Doh Fun Bucket for $10.99
KB Toys has the Classic Colors Four Pack for $3.99

So if you are looking for a last minute gift item for a young one, consider a gift that is timeless and helps them explore their imagination.

A wonderful idea to separate the books from the toys without the books getting lost in the wrapping paper….
