Flashback Friday: Movie that Rocked my world
I am playing along with Izzy Mom’s Flashback Friday. She’s asking people to describe a movie that rocked your world as a teenager and the first thing that came to my mind, Halloween.
My movie pick is different type of movie than Izzy’s, but it is the one movie that really stands out. The first Halloween movie was the first scary movie that I can remember that my parents allowed me to see, and it scarred the living sh_t out of me. I saw Michael Myers in my dreams for weeks. To top it off, the city the movie took place in was not less than 20 minutes from where we lived and it was rumored to be a true story.
If you’d like to participate, visit Izzy’s post below and share in the flashback.

A Kindergartner’s Favorite Movie List
For months I have been working on my favorite movie list and decided to ask my 6 year old what were his favorite movies and was surprised at how quick and confident his responses were. So if you have a kindergarten boy, then this may be helpful for your movie collection. In no certain order:
- Racing Stripes (he has a thing for horses)
- Shark Boy and Lava Girl
- Monster House
- Fantastic Four –Silver Surfer
- Pokemon–Any Version

A Parent’s Review of the Academy Award Winners
Who? What? Was that a movie? Is he the director??????
Since becoming a parent, my movie watching activities have been contingent on the DVD/PPV release schedule. I know that most of you can relate to this. When we were young and childless, we’d go to the local movieplex a couple of times a month. Now as a responsible adult and parent, we’re lucky to get to the theatre a couple of times a year. This of course excludes any kid/family/disney releases. I have the pleasure of attending all the latest kid movies within the first couple of weeks of release with my oldest son, but it’s not anything with a rating of PG 13 or higher. Those don’t count.
So yes, I will sit in front of the TV tonight and watch parts of the awards ceremony with no actor/actress/director/movie to route for. The only thing I will be doing is trying to figure out which movies I’m going to put on my blockbuster list for rental and see three months from now. Yes, parenting changes our entertainment activity choices, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Besides, I watched an all-day Pokemon marathon today with my son. No award show can match that.
Gotta go put the little ones to bed. (orchestra music playing in the background)
God Bless and Goodnight. -

If you liked “The Great Debaters,” You’ll Love “Pride”
I think “The Great Debaters” is a great movie, but found Pride much more heart warming. Based on a true story of a black swim coach teaches inner city kids to swim and eventually win a national championship. Starring Terrence Howard and Bernie Mac, the movie seems rushed at times and uses a number of cliche’s. Beyond the technical fast story line issues, the substance of what it took these young men and women to overcome racism and poverty, is remarkable. A must see in my list.

Recommendation: Blockbuster Friends and Family
I started using this a couple of weeks ago and love this new feature blockbuster has started offering. I often find myself asking co-workers what good movies have they seen recently and this makes things so much easier. You can do the following with your friends and family listing:
- Choose your all-time favorite movies and then share and compare your lists
- Trade Movie recommendations (I use this feature the most. When I rent a good movie it is easy to recommend it to your friends from your que)
- See what your friends are watching and what's coming up next in their que (you can set privacy settings so they dont see everything)

Mission: Impossible III
I have been seeing ads for MI 3 for a couple of weeks now, and every time one comes on I stop what I am doing and watch to see if they show a new scene. Don't you just love the promos for this movie? Although I have been a fan of Tom Cruise's acting since "Risky Business," I have not been a fan of him as a person for a while. I hope that this is not one of the movies where the only good scenes are in the ads. I have also been a fan of Ving Rhames since "Pulp Fiction" and wish I would see him in more stuff. The characters that Ving plays remind me a lot of myself. Cool, deliberate and precise……Yup, that's me, at least in my dreams. I loved MI 1 and not that happy with MI 2, so hopefully MI 3 will be worth paying to go see it in the theatres. Since BJ was born, I have been on the "DVD Movies Schedule" of keeping up with movies. Only something really special will get me to watch something real time. So if anyone has a chance to see it, please give me your thoughts so I can make a decision to plunk down my hard-earned cash.
